Explaining our sports coverage

@pacislaqueus: I’m sorry you were upset by our coverage. We continually struggle to balance our coverage of all of UNC’s sports. There’s only so much space in the paper, and we supplement that with coverage online, but we know it’s not always enough for folks who only read the print edition.

In this situation, the men’s basketball team received the bulk of our SportsMonday coverage because the game Thursday against Dayton marked the end of their season. When the baseball team’s season started Feb. 22, we gave them the bulk of our coverage on the page. The baseball series this weekend was also away, and we’re limited in how often and how far we can travel (the men’s lacrosse game was also away, although we did cover the home men’s tennis and women’s lacrosse matches).

That said, I know how frustrating it is to open the paper hoping to find a story on something, only to find very little or nothing. Thanks for the feedback, and we’ll try to get it right next week!

pacislaqueus:

They wrote a friggin’ novel about our men’s basketball team’s loss with giant color photos, yet our men’s lax and baseball teams that won get 150ish word blurbs hidden away.

xblondey112x:

what did they do now?

pacislaqueus:

It’s on DTH.

You’ve incurred the wrath of Erin.
